In order to become a Certified Veterinary Technician in Colorado, you must graduate from an AVMA-accredited program and sit for the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE). The Colorado Academy of Veterinary Technology has applied to the AVMA for accreditation. The AVMA Site-Visit is scheduled for September 2010.

From I-25 coming from the North or South: exit on Circle Drive (also called Lake Avenue). Take Circle Drive (also known as Lake Avenue) West to Venetucci Blvd. Take Venetucci Blvd. South to Cheyenne Meadows Road. Go West (left) onto Cheyenne Meadows Road. Make a left into the parking lot for the Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs (1017 Cheyenne Meadows Road). The Colorado Academy of Veterinary Technology is located on the East side of the building.

The CAVT has been granted Candidacy by the Council on Occupational Education (COE). This is an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.
